I am always amazed by those ancient cizilisations and how advanced those people and their cultures, architectures, knowledges, and technologies are. And wonder how could these cizilisations, once so great, disappear completely and how long our current cizilisation could last.
The author of this book traveled with the Hong Kong-based Phoenix Satellite TV crew by 4WDs for more than 40,000km, across Greece, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, India, and Nepal, to visit and study the old sites of these ancient cizilisations. This book is written in a form of diary with vivid descriptions of their daily adventures, photographs of ancient buildings, interactions with the locals, some historic facts, comparison of different cultures, ancient and modern cizilisations by the author.
Reading this book gives me a better understanding of how and why people from different cultures behave differently and what are their views and attitudes towards life. We should have respects for other cultures that are different from ours or we will always find ourselves repeating the history again and again. Highly recommended (But it's in Chinese, hopefully I will find an English translation).
